Darshan Appayanna has joined Trent Hypermarket, a Tata Group and Tesco entity, which operates hypermarket Star Bazaar, as head of digital and IT.
He is looking at helping the organization scale and become more disruptive in the retail space.
“The idea is to enable the company to scale to the growth path that they have for the next three years. To take this leap, it's important to enhance the customer engagement and digital drive," Appayanna told CIO India in an exclusive interview.
The focus will be on becoming more relevant in the disruptive retail space. We will be looking at how to make Star Bazaar more relevant to the current customers, when it comes to customer relations or customer experience, he added.
Appayanna is an IT veteran with over 24 years of global experience in sales, business strategy, technology adoption, and go to market solutions. He specializes in leveraging digital, mobility, cloud and security technologies in retail, HiTech and aerospace verticals.
Prior to joining Trent Hypermarket, he was the digital transformation, cyber security and technology advisor at Archon Consulting Systems. He has previously worked in Happiest Minds Technologies, VMC and Infosys. As an entrepreneur, he founded Glassfrog Solutions and built a career mentoring platform for students to map personal skills collated via a social collaborative platform to industry skills.
