Larsen and Tubro has announced the appointment of Sudip Mazumder as deputy head, Digital, for north, west region. The Mumbai-headquartered company deals in engineering, manufacturing, information technology, and financial services.
Mazumder was the head of Digital and Innovation at KEC international and RPG group from August 2012 to March 2017. Prior to that, he worked with TCS and Cognizant.
He is a senior digital and IT professional. Also, he is keen to experiment with cutting edge technologies to solve business problems and believes in grooming future technology leaders.
“My immediate responsibility will be within the construction business of L&T group. The senior management has a strategic focus to make the organization digital. I’m part of the company’s strategic journey of connected enterprise,” he says.
“We have a superb team which is highly capable and committed, giving us the assurance that any task can be fulfilled through teamwork.” Moreover, the digital team will work closely with Business and IT. The digital team is agile, experimental, learns fast and ready to scale.
However, there are challenges the company faces as in any other large diversified engineering and construction organizations. “As the company works in all kinds of terrain, it is challenging to deploy technology, its logistics, and understanding the efficiency and productivity of all the elements involved in the project,” says Mazumder.
To overcome hurdles, he says that the company will pilot new technologies and new processes with new age digital technology and service providers.
