Sankarson Banerjee joins RBL bank as CIO 

Former chief technology officer at NSE, Sankarson Banerjee has joined Ratnakar Bank as CIO.

After a three year stint at National Stock Exchange as CTO- Projects, Sankarson Banerjee has joined RBL as the CIO.  

As the CIO, Banerjee will be reporting to Gurumurthy R, Head- Risk and Governance, RBL Bank. He will also be responsible for optimizing the legacy IT Systems and digital transformation of the bank. Banerjee plans to use predictive models and data analytics to provide digital user experience to the banks customers. 

As the head of new projects at NSE, Banerjee led the transformation agenda. He initiated NSE’s move to a new clearing and settlement system, a new index system, a new SAAS broker front office and a new surveillance system. He also led the innovation agenda, making NSE a leader in experimenting with Artificial Intelligence  and blockchains in the Indian capital markets.

Banerjee has more than two decades of experience in the industry and has worked in IBM, Accenture, IIFL, TDA Capital Partners, Deccanet Designs, Mphasis and Future Bazaar India. He also co-founded Indbazaar in 1999. 

Until March this year, Sanjay Sharma was the CIO at RBL. He shifted to APAC Financial Services as the founding member and chief digital and innovation officer. At RBL, Sharma was responsible for technology, innovation and customer fulfillment initiatives for the Bank. He was also responsible for developing technology strategy and IT vision in accordance with business strategy of the bank by driving innovation across channels and products.
