NHS Trust cuts cost through simplified user account management

Executive Summary

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust serves more than half a million people living in Northern England, and has a staff of 7,000 employees. The trust has to create almost 100 new accounts every month leading to inevitable account management issues. Adding to the woes was the fact that, most of the persons employees leaving the trust failed to notify the IT department, which meant their user rights remained unrevoked. On the other hand, new employees needed to remember multiple passwords, which often ended in calls to the help desk for password reset.

Novel deployed Novell Identity Manager and Novell Secure Login solution, to address these multiple account management issues. Also, Novell Secure Login helped in creating a single sign-on capability for more than 13 business critical applications.
