The services include an HP Infrastructure Operating Environment, HP FlexiFabric, HP Virtual Resource Pools and the HP Data Centre Smart Grid.

According to Durgadutt Nedungadi, Director, HP Enterprise Business, India, "The converged architecture will integrate servers, both physical and virtual, networks, applications and cooling and power wrapped together with management software to build an elastic infrastructure."

The solution, he added, would, "enable enterprises to scale up or scale down depending on the market inflection point."

The need, he said, was important because enterprises are witnessing an IT sprawl and are creating silos in their datacenters that consume up to 66 percent of IT budgets for maintenance and operations. "The market demands a restructuring of IT rather than a downsizing. Cost-cutting will lead to IT infrastructure that is siloed and non-agile," said Nedungadi.

HP's converged infrastructure solution, he said, aims to eliminate technology silos and complexities in the datacenter while leveraging current investments.

The new services, he said, have been designed to help organizations meet the challenges of today's unpredictable business environment and anticipate future business needs.

These are significant challenges according to a Coleman Parker Research survey that was commissioned by HP. It found that that 90 percent of senior business decision makers believe that business cycles will continue to be unpredictable in the next few years and 84 percent feel innovation will be critical to their organization's success.

According to Faizal Paul, Head ESS, Marketting and Growth Initiatives, HP Enterprise Business, India, "The converged infrastructure will allow [organizations] to re-allocate their IT budgets and focus more on innovation."
