Digital Innovation Strategy

To stitch together compute, storage and networking in a single box, Viacom 18 Media developed a hyper converged infrastructure which is scalable and knows no geographical boundaries. With the deployment of this project, the company now has the capability of running 50-70 servers out of a single server. This leaves a huge headroom for future expansion. Viacom18 Media also visualizes to further expand this by developing a datacenter with minimum hardware, maximum capacity and performance.

The provision of a single server earlier took four to six weeks which included proposal, negotiations, procurement, delivery and installation. Now 50-70 virtual machines can be delivered within minutes once the sizing is clear. The best feature of this new project is the reduction in space consumption, cooling needs and power consumption and hence reducing the carbon footprint. This is a step further towards Viacom 18 Media’s vision of being an environmentally sustainable organization. Being a green field project it had the freedom to create and deploy infrastructure which aligns to the company’s business goals and vision.
