Last year, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) was chosen as the global IT development partner by its parent company to develop global IT systems for Maruti Suzuki and its subsidiaries. The task at hand was to standardize global technology throughout all Suzuki group of companies. This project involves teams from business and IT department of Maruti Suzuki India and SMC Japan.
The SMC team brought along with them the standards and system specification, whereas MSIL IT was responsible for design and development of the system through the in-house tech capabilities. The IT departments of MSIL and SMC worked together in tandem to achieve the desired results.
Standardization of systems will ease IT deployment across Suzuki group of companies. The key benefits include lowered cost of development, maintenance and support. Further the transparency and better availability of data will help in better analytics for strategic decisions.
