Axis Capital already has a state-of–the-art datacenter with 100 percent virtual environment. However, the company was unable to keep pace with the growing business requirements. At the same time the pressure of reducing Opex and Capex continued for IT team.
Axis Capital over the past few years has been overwhelmed by the complexity, cost, and sprawl that have overtaken the data center. Server virtualization did little to address inefficiencies in storage and network, despite the gains on the server front. From an administrative standpoint, the overhead of managing eight to 10 hardware and software products on average had caused pressure on the budget. Also, the datacenter hardware was nearing end of its life and end of support from OEMs.
There was a need to simplify the architecture with simplified operations. They conducted an evaluation of solutions that could seamlessly integrate with their existing infrastructure to simplify data center operations and optimize the overall operational expense and deliver better return on investments. Immediately after upgrading to 10G, 40G network, and after thorough evaluation, Axis Capital deployed Hyperconverged Technology on top of high speed network to overcome their current challenges in its virtual infrastructure.
With an integrated network fabric, powerful data optimization, unified server, hypervisor and storage management, Axis Capital is now able to derive full potential of hyperconvergence to their virtual server deployments. These solutions are simple to manage, and easy to scale as their IT team does not need additional management skill. Axis Capital IT team still continues to manage through, as they used to manage their VM’s before.
