Former Shine.com Chief Technology Officer, Amardeep Vishwakarma has joined news media giant The Indian Express, as its new CTO.
He will be responsible for driving content personalization, enhancing user experience and increasing online readership with the help of digital technologies.
Vishwakarma officially joined the media organization on 15 July, he confirmed in a statement to CIO India.
Focus areas for the new CTO
In the highly competitive domain of online news, grabbing user attention is not an easy task. Speaking about his priorities as the new CTO, Vishwakarma explained, “There is a lot of competition amongst news portals. In this context, one of the most important factors is page performance. Secondly, the user interface has to be extremely efficient and agile.”
His strategy will include optimizing the online platform to enhance reader experience. Another key focus will be content personalization, which will include recommending content based on reader’s interest. “The idea is to leverage data that already exists by using AI/ML and data analytics. The IT team will also focus on building new products around this data.”
Vishwakarma’s LinkedIn account highlights his extensive experience in IT, with expertise in managing and scaling high traffic websites. Prior to joining The Indian Express, he has spearheaded tech transformation initiatives at Shine.com, Info Edge India, Shareaholic and Naukri.com
