Anjani Kumar has joined Nissan Motor Corporation as the CIO for Africa, Middle East and India (AMI) region. He will be responsible for driving digital strategies and initiatives for Nissan Motor Corp. in all countries of AMI region (India, Dubai, Egypt, South Africa, Turkey, KSA and more.)
Former Global CDO for Collabera, Kumar headed their digital transformation initiatives. He was also CIO for international businesses for logistic firm Safexpress.
Talking to CIO he said, "My role will be of CIO for AMI ( Africa, Middle East, India) region. It’s very diverse geography and each market has it’s own advantages and challenges. While many countries in the middle east are very mature markets, India and most countries in Africa are still emerging markets. While I feel excited about the role, at the same time Automobile industry is a fast transforming domain, and me being new to this industry, with vast geography to cover, the role would definitely be challenging."
Talking about the challenges ahead he said, "Even though regional HQ is in Dubai, I will be based out of India. Quick grasp of Automobile industry knowledge, transforming while delivering the current ongoing projects, and operational excellence and higher level of business collaboration in diverse geography are the biggest challenges I see as of now. But it is too early to establish such notions. As per initial impression, digital transformation is set agenda by global CIO’s office as well as Chairman of the region. Digital being my biggest forte and having extensive experience of transforming industries using digital, one area to focus is clear – ‘Digital transformation’. Operational performance is another area which is kind of hygiene for any CIO. And then of course with most true MNCs of this size, one goal would be bringing consistency in terms of IT as well digital eco-system to the all countries in this vast region aligning with the global standards."
According to his official LinkedIn account, "he will work closely with the regional teams to drive and implement digital transformation in all countries of AMI region aligned to Nissan digital strategy globally.” In addition, "he will be responsible to work with all functions to ensure that IS/IT meets the needs of the business and proactively maintains ongoing operations across the region.” the update said.
He has received numerous accolades including most promising CIO and Digital Transformation Leader. Before taking up CIO role, he was responsible to drive Digital Business Unit for Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences industry in IBM Global Services which included 7 years’ stint in USA at client locations.
