Shiv Kumar Bhasin joins NSE as Chief Technology and Operations Officer

Shiv Kumar Bhasin has joined the National Stock Exchange (NSE) as the chief technology and operations officer. He was earlier the CTO at State Bank of India.

Shiv Kumar Bhasin has been appointed as the chief technology and operations officer at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on January 2, 2019. Bhasin will be reporting directly to Vikram Limaye, managing director and CEO of NSE.

“At NSE, I will be looking at using technology to define and promote a futuristic stock exchange set up,” said Bhasin in an exclusive statement to CIO India

Bhasin was previously the global CTO of the State Bank of India. At SBI, Bhasin was instrumental in bringing about a huge digital transformation by actively leveraging emerging technologies such as blockchain, internet of things (IoT), robotic process automation (RPA) and artificial intelligence (AI).

Bhasin transformed the server infrastructure to cloud based, software defined datacenters, virtualisation of branches - Branch on cloud, network transformation for datacenters and branches, ATM switch and payments gateway, and digital channels - internet and mobile banking transformations.

Bhasin was also instrumental in launching SBI YONO – a digital bank offering which provides an integrated digital banking platform and a one stop solution for banking, lifestyle, insurance, investment, and shopping needs of customers. 

Bhasin has more than 23 years of experience working across Fortune 500 financial services companies. He specializes in digital transformation, customer experience, design thinking, IoT and robotics, enterprise wide digitization of business processes.

He has previously worked at Gartner, Oracle, Experian Data Quality, Barclays Retail, Fidelity Investments, Hughes Software Systems, Imagitas, and Parametric Technology.
