Rakesh Aerath is Senior Vice President & Business Unit Leader at CGI. He is responsible for CGI’s APAC Financial Services business unit which includes global banking, insurance and other financial services clients. Aerath has over 24 years of experience working closely with global clients and partners, and over the years has held various leadership positions in multiple industry sectors across the globe. He is also the innovation leader for the CGI’s APAC SBU and as part of the global innovation council, he is responsible for driving the culture of innovation. Aerath holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an MBA in finance from a leading institute.

Digital Strategy

For a large US bank, CGI has implemented a program which helped transform it into a digital organization that delivers personalized digital experiences to its customers, and also preserves its investment in legacy infrastructure across its 2000+ branches. This transformation has generated USD 5 million in annual savings by reducing application maintenance, print and mailing costs by going paperless. 

This transformation has also created a significant impact on environment by saving 30 million sheets of paper (12,000 trees, Go Green Initiative) every year. The entire development was done by re-skilling existing members by leveraging self-learning platforms. 

CGI also designed and developed an enterprise communication management system anchored on the smart communications ECM platform. Data from disparate legacy systems is ingested into a scalable digital platform to transform paper-based customer correspondence into a digital, omni-channel form which can be delivered by email, mobile or can be stored on the cloud for the clients to access.
